What Garritan Instruments Come with Finale 2012

When it comes to optimal Garritan instrument playback in Finale 2012, there are a few settings you should be aware of. First and foremost, avoid setting the Mixer's master volume too high as this can negatively impact the overall sound quality. Despite its appearance, the Reverb Level and Room Size settings in the Mixer do not have any impact on GPO playback. Instead, you can use the Mixer during playback to adjust the balance between instruments, panning (stereo placement), mute and/or solo tracks, and adjust the overall (Master) playback volume.

The Mixer is laid out like a real mixing board, with a volume slider, a pan dial, and mute and solo buttons for each instrument, as well as a Master volume control at the far right. You can use these tools to set default balance levels and make real-time adjustments during playback, allowing you to fine-tune your Garritan instruments.

In addition to the Mixer, Finale 2012 also includes Studio View, which is like a combination of the Mixer and Scroll View. This feature enables you to control Garritan instruments using Finale's Mixer or Studio View (or even the ScoreManager).

To use the Mixer with Garritan instruments, you need to ensure that the 'CC#7/CC#10 Volume & Pan' setting is turned on in the Kontakt Player options. This can be done by selecting VST Banks & Effects from the MIDI/Audio menu and clicking any of the Edit buttons to bring up an instance of the Kontakt Player.

For Garritan libraries that use Kontakt Player 1 (such as Full GPO and JABB), you may need to adjust this setting yourself, as it is not checked by default. To do this, select VST Banks & Effects from the MIDI/Audio menu and click any of the Edit buttons to bring up an instance of the Kontakt Player.

Finally, if you're a Kontakt User using Kontact Player 2, be aware that these features only work correctly with Garritan instruments if 'Use Std. Controllers for Volume and Pan' is checked in the Instrument Options dialog box.
